"You are Not a Problem"

What if Healing is not about getting rid of things like symptoms, patterns, loops in the brain but instead about Becoming a Presence that can include and even welcome those expressions?

If you are like me when I am hurting, or looping, that may feel like the opposite of your habit.

When we are hijacked by a stress response or an old conditioned thought or physiological pattern, there is no ground, no traction to move from.

It’s like having one leg or no legs.

The only movement is repetition - caught in the thing we are inside of.

This can feel like a problem….

Can you imagine this?

The next time you are feeling groundless, whirling in worry or consumed with trying to get away from some symptom that your deep brain is convinced is a threat, gently place your hand on what feels like the epicenter and say internally [or out loud - this brings more leverage] “You are not a problem.”

Feel how this feels inside.

Then continue with whatever feels accurate:

“I feel how worried you are.

… how scared you are

… how alone you feel

… how you are hurting

… that you are so tired

… how hard it is to be here with this..”

Can you imagine that?

If so, keep going, stay with your experience as you go and it unfolds.

It’s like improv.

Just say yes to whatever you meet and keep following and reflecting:

“I feel your…”

Why not have a practice run right now.

As you reflect whatever feels right, you might notice some more sensations coming on line - tension [I feel how much you are holding], heaviness [ I feel your sadness.], trembling [I feel you letting go/ discharging], some emotional tone - anger, sadness, fear, shame…

Let your body lead this.

We are listening and following.

See if you can sense whether your body seems to notice your presence with it, if it responds to your care and attunement.

Sometimes it can help to open our awareness into what is supporting us as we meet the spinning, tension, worry.

Let the searchlight of your awareness rest into and beyond the surfaces that are holding you so that as you let the parts of yourself you are meeting sense you in this presence, they get that you are supported as you offer them support.

Healing is about mending ruptures, returning to wholeness.

Reclaiming our sense of power can be this simple - mending the patterns of moving away from or powering down our internal experience.

This simple practice can shift habits of rupture into habits of repair.

If you feel drawn to practicing this movement toward, this expanding to include and come into ‘power with’ yourself this month, I’d love to hear what you discover.
